Metal deck spans perpendicularly to the edge beam with a maximum one-foot overhang and two-inch minimum bearing. A continuous quarter-inch bent edge plate forms the slab edge, welded with a quarter-inch fillet weld to the deck and an additional three-sixteenths weld at the underside. Additional number four reinforcing bars measuring five feet long are spaced at eighteen inches on center and welded to the edge plate. A three-quarter-inch clearance is maintained at the top slab reinforcement. The concrete slab thickness is determined per the deck schedule over a structural steel edge beam sized per plan.
