An underground piping anchor assembly for heating hot water systems features a steel anchor plate continuously welded to the service pipe and surrounded by insulation. The anchor plate dimensions are determined by the conduit outside diameter, with height and width equal to the conduit outer diameter plus one and one-half inches, and a thickness of one-half inch for up to twenty-two inch conduits and three-quarters of an inch for twenty-four inch and larger sizes. The entire assembly is embedded in a formed concrete block measuring a minimum of six and one-half feet long by two feet wide by four feet high, toed into compacted soil a minimum of one foot below the pipe with a minimum of one foot of concrete from the edge of the anchor plate on all sides.
