A mechanical pipe penetration passes through a metal roofing assembly. A pre-molded ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) or rubber boot surrounds the pipe, featuring an intact manufacturer's rib or lip at the top secured by a stainless steel clamping ring. Sealant is applied at the top of the boot around the pipe and along the lap joints with approximately a one-half inch overlap. Base flashing is provided by the general contractor and sealed with in-seam sealant. Installation instructions require modification to match the specific roofing type and ensure a watertight seal.
