An insulated or uninsulated pipe passes vertically through a concrete floor slab within a pipe sleeve sized one nominal size larger than the pipe. The annular space between the sleeve and the pipe is packed with backup material and sealed at the top and bottom with fire-rated sealant. Insulated pipes feature a protective metal jacket over the top of the insulation.
