This assembly consists of an exhaust or fresh air duct penetrating the roof deck, supported by structural members referenced in the structural drawings. The duct is surrounded by a 16-gauge channel curb, 12 inches high by 2 inches deep, which is secured to the roof deck with through-bolts and washers. A 2-inch counter flashing is installed around the duct and secured to the curb with sheet metal screws, which must be coated with pitch. The gooseneck rainhood is constructed of 18-gauge galvanized steel with caulked joints and a welded seam, and it is finished with a galvanized 1/4-inch mesh screen within a frame. All joints and fasteners are to be coated with pitch to ensure a watertight seal.
