Pipe penetrations pass through non-rated and fire-rated wall partitions. An eighteen gauge galvanized steel sleeve is sized one inch larger than the pipe and insulation outside diameter to maintain a one-quarter inch gap around the entire penetration. For non-rated partitions, a three-quarter inch wide continuous elastomeric seal or polished chrome escutcheon is applied around the piping in finished areas. Fire-rated partitions require specified UL listed fire safing material combined with specified smoke and waterstop mastic installed per manufacturer instructions. Uninsulated pipe installations follow a similar configuration.
