Rectangular, oval, or round HVAC ducts are supported by hanger straps enclosed within exterior duct insulation. The insulation is installed outside of the support for rectangular ducts, with a vapor-tight seal jacket applied around the strap. For round ducts, the strap is joined with a nut and bolt, and vapor barrier sealant is applied at the penetration. Maximum spacing dimensions limit rectangular ducts to sixty inches and round ducts to twenty-four inches.
