An insertion flow meter is installed in a straight pipe run with required upstream and downstream clearances for valid flow rate readings. The installation requires a minimum straight pipe distance of ten pipe diameters upstream and five pipe diameters downstream of the meter. The meter is positioned to allow unobstructed access for maintenance and operation.
