A combination fire and smoke damper is installed within a sleeve penetrating a typical concrete floor assembly. Four typical mounting angles secure the sleeve to the top and bottom of the concrete slab. Fireproof caulking seals the annular space around the penetration. An actuator, with a variable location, operates the damper mechanism, and flexible conduit supplies power to the assembly.
