A fire/smoke damper with a sleeve penetrates a fire-rated shaft wall adjacent to a vertical duct riser. The assembly incorporates an actuator, a smoke detector, an access door on the side or bottom, and a duct branch connection. Sizing tables establish minimum wall thickness versus sleeve length requirements, as well as damper size versus setback distances. A shaft wall box-out is required for proper alignment of the shaft wall with the fire/smoke damper blades.
