A sixteen-gauge galvanized steel sleeve is secured grout-tight within the wall partition to accommodate a pipe with or without insulation. The annular space between the pipe and the sleeve is filled completely with 3M fire-stopping caulk. Escutcheon plates are installed at exposed wall surfaces, with the specific finish coordinated with the architect. This assembly applies to both interior stud walls and exterior surfaces, with notes indicating that the method is similar for non-insulated pipes, conduits, and masonry or concrete walls where core drilling or cast-in-place methods are used.
