A sheet metal duct connects to a plenum behind an exterior waterproof louver with an outside air configuration. All joints in the connection area require watertight caulking. The duct ties into the back or top of the plenum as high as possible, with the duct sloping upward if possible. A one-half-inch mesh screen protects the louver opening, and the bottom blade bends over the screen. The bottom of the plenum pitches downward a minimum of four inches per foot toward the outside.
