An HVAC duct passes through an interior wall opening with a retaining angle secured to the duct only. The retaining angle measures 1-1/2 inches by 1-1/2 inches by 10 gauge minimum and fastens with number 10 sheet metal screws at 8 inches on center. The duct overlaps the wall by a minimum of 1 inch.
