A rectangular duct is supported by a minimum one-inch wide metal strap hung from overhead structural members with a restrained clip. The strap wraps under the duct with a one-inch minimum bend tab and is secured on the sides with number ten sheet metal screws spaced at six inches on center typical. Alternatively, the connection to the overhead support utilizes two number ten sheet metal screws or one quarter-inch bolt. A trapeze hanger must be used for rectangular ducts larger than sixty inches in width.
