A continuous one-inch by sixteen-gauge metal collar is drawn tight around the round duct and secured with a three-eighths-inch bolt, nut, and star washer. A diagonal sway brace formed from a one-inch by sixteen-gauge metal strap connects to the collar assembly with a maximum two-inch clearance. The upper end of the diagonal strap extends upward to anchor into the building structure per structural drawings.
