Pre-insulated flexible duct connects to an externally insulated takeoff and terminates at a ceiling diffuser. Metallic or non-metallic bands secure the insulation over the duct joints, supplemented by foil tape at the insulation seams. A volume damper with a remote cable operator is installed in the takeoff, featuring a worm gear operator mounted on top of the diffuser and a square shaft for a one-quarter inch drive socket or nutdriver. A gasket is provided between metal-to-metal surfaces at the diffuser connection. The flexible duct is installed permanently sealed and supported to prevent kinking, with a rigid ninety-degree elbow used where required to keep the run within the five-foot length limitation.
