A gas pipe penetrates a built-up roof assembly consisting of a structural deck, vapor retarder, roof insulation, and membrane roofing. A flexible membrane pipe boot fits over the gas pipe and is welded or sealed directly to the roofing membrane by the roofing contractor. A stainless steel clamp secures the top of the boot to the pipe, supplemented by an approved sealant bead. A specific note requires the membrane pipe boot to be provided and installed by the roofing contractor to maintain the roofing warranty.
