A venturi flow meter is installed in a piping run with specific straight pipe distances maintained on both sides to ensure valid pressure drop readings. The upstream straight pipe requires a minimum of seven pipe diameters, while the downstream straight pipe requires a minimum of four pipe diameters. The venturi device is oriented with the direction of water flow and positioned to provide unobstructed access to the read-out hose attachment.
