A circuit setter balancing valve is installed in the water supply piping with specific straight pipe distances required for valid pressure drop readings. Seven pipe diameters minimum are required upstream of the valve, and four pipe diameters minimum are required downstream. The valve must be oriented to allow unobstructed access to the dial indicator and read-out hose attachment.
