A volume damper assembly, specified as a Young Regulator model 5020CC for round ducts or 830ACC for rectangular ducts, is installed within the rigid branch ductwork. The damper is operated by a flexible cable housed in a casing, which allows for a maximum length of fifty feet. This cable connects to a locking rack and pinion operator mounted on a bracket within the linear slot diffuser plenum box. The control shaft is positioned to remain accessible through the face of the linear slot diffuser, allowing for adjustment using a socket wrench. The assembly includes a wire stop and casing clamp at the damper end to secure the control cable. The damper operator must be located at the branch takeoff rather than within the diffuser plenum neck.
