The rooftop exhaust fan sits atop a galvanized metal roof curb, which is leveled and anchored to the roof framing by others. A wood nailer is secured to the top of the curb using five-sixteenths inch by two inch screws with washers, spaced at twenty-four inches on center with a minimum of two per side. The factory curb includes a cant strip, and the assembly is fastened to the roof structure using 20d by four inch nails at each corner and twelve inches on center, with a minimum of three nails on each side of the unit. An automatic backdraft damper is installed within the curb throat, and roofing material is flashed up the cant strip.
