A pipe passes through a framed wall assembly constructed with metal studs or wood framing and faced with five-eighths-inch gypsum board on both sides. A pipe sleeve is set directly into the wall and anchored during construction, accommodating the passing pipe. The annular gap around the pipe is filled completely with Underwriters Laboratories listed fill and sealed with Underwriters Laboratories listed caulk. Insulation is installed as required along the pipe run. Escutcheon plates are provided on the exterior faces of the wall as required when exposed in finished areas.
