An in-line exhaust fan casing is suspended from the structure above using three-eighths-inch-diameter hanger rods connected to mounting brackets and isolators provided by the fan manufacturer. Lateral movement of the fan is restrained by four three-sixteenths-inch-diameter aircraft cable braces set at a maximum one-inch offset. The cable loops over a wire rope thimble and is secured with two U-bolt clips, maintaining one-half inch of slack to prevent vibration transmission to the building structure while restraining lateral displacement. A three-eighths-inch pin shackle connects the wire rope loop to a three-sixteenths-by-two-and-a-half-inch bent plate clip bolted directly to the fan assembly.
