The cold water supply line enters through a two-inch water service pipe with typical unions and wall or floor supports. A two-inch water meter measures flow before the line branches into a two-inch reduced pressure principle backflow preventer with a pipe discharging to a drain through an air gap. A three-quarter-inch drain valve and a hose end with a vacuum breaker provide maintenance and drainage access. The upper line connects to an expansion tank and includes a relief valve set at one hundred psig with full-size discharge to the drain, alongside a three-quarter-inch capped drain. The shut-off valve is set to the open position with its handle removed and hung adjacent to the valve. Notes require charging the expansion tank prior to system connection to match site water pressure.
