A wall-mounted indoor air conditioning unit attaches to a wall assembly using the unit manufacturer mounting plate. The mounting plate is secured directly to steel studs or wood blocking behind the wall finish using eight number eight by one and a half inch sheet metal screws. The indoor unit slips directly onto the installed mounting plate to complete the attachment.
