A branch duct connects to a main duct with a forty-five degree entry configured per SMACNA standards. A minimum six-inch clearance is maintained from the takeoff to avoid noise generation. High-velocity duct systems require a note restricting the entry opening speed to fifteen hundred feet per minute.
