Water hammer arresters connect to the hot and cold water supply piping at the runouts to the last fixture. Runouts to the last fixture must not be smaller than the size required for the arresters. Sizing for the water hammer arresters is determined using Table 10-1 of the 2012 Uniform Plumbing Code based on fixture units.
