Welded shear stud placement configurations secure steel beams supporting metal deck in both perpendicular and parallel orientations. The left configuration places the metal deck perpendicular to the beam with four studs per flute and two studs per flute arrangements. The right configuration places the metal deck parallel to the beam with one row of studs and two rows of studs, maintaining a minimum 4 1/2-inch spacing, a 3-inch dimension, and a typical 7/8-inch minimum edge distance.
