A vertical pipe passes through a concrete floor slab and metal deck supported by a six-inch galvanized pipe sleeve. The annular space contains fiberglass insulation and a backer rod, sealed with a one-quarter-inch gap filled with acoustical sealant typically on both sides. Firestopping material is applied at rated floors typically on both sides, while waterproof caulk is used on waterproof floors only. Pipe insulation is installed where required.
