Turning vanes are installed inside rectangular mitered duct elbows to maintain airflow and reduce pressure drop. The installation requires double or single thickness vanes as specified by the duct pressure class, with single thickness vanes limited to lengths under thirty-six inches without intermediate runners. Vanes must be installed per SMACNA standards with all vanes included, prohibiting the elimination of every other vane. Vanes are fastened and supported securely to prevent vibration and maintain proper alignment at design velocity.
