A ceiling grille connects to a supply or return duct through a flexible duct run limited to a maximum length of five feet. The flexible duct attaches using a drawband with sealant or UL-approved tape, or a factory metal collar screwed to the duct or register collar and sealed with UL-approved tape or duct sealant. A manufacturer-installed balance damper or flag damper with a ribbon is included where applicable. Hangers installed per SMACNA standards secure the ductwork to the structure above. For T-bar ceiling applications, diffusers are positively attached using lay-in support clips or by mechanical fastening to the T-bar runner.
