A pipe penetrates a concrete roof slab or metal deck roof through an eight-foot sleeve packed with a minimum of one inch of fire-resistive insulation. A ring clamp secures a twenty gauge galvanized steel storm collar for galvanized pipe or a sixteen gauge steel storm collar for black steel pipe, with the collar welded around the top and sealed. Roofing and flashing are provided by the general contractor, maintaining four inches minimum clearance. A support strap is welded to the pipe where the pipe weight is supported from the roof structure, positioned sixteen inches from the top of the roofing.
