An HSS post bears on a steel wide flange beam sized per plan, with concrete-filled steel deck omitted for clarity. A five-eighths inch thick base plate welds to the post and secures with four five-eighths inch diameter A325-N bolts. One-quarter inch thick full-height stiffener plates weld to each side of the beam web with three-sixteenths inch fillet welds. A separate bolted connection ties the beam web to the supporting column per detail 1C/S601.
