An inline exhaust fan is suspended from the overhead structure using four required half-inch steel hanger rods secured through spring vibration isolators and mounting brackets furnished by the fan manufacturer. Flexible connections tie the fan inlet and discharge to rectangular ductwork sized per plans, incorporating a low leakage control damper and a backdraft damper. A separate duct support detail includes rectangular duct hung from overhead structural members using minimum one-inch straps and restrained clips, fastened with two number ten sheet metal screws or one quarter-inch bolt. Duct straps feature a minimum one-inch bend tab under the duct secured with number ten sheet metal screws at six inches on center typical, with trapeze hangers required for rectangular ducts larger than sixty inches in width.
