A floor drain assembly is installed within a concrete floor slab above a P-trap. A safe pan made of sheet lead or copper starts underneath the clamping ring and extends at least twelve inches outward from the drain. Concrete is poured around the drain body to secure it in place, and the finish floor is installed by others.
