A pipe penetration through a one or two-hour gypsum wallboard assembly accommodates steel pipe up to six inches or copper pipe up to four inches in diameter. The assembly permits a maximum of two inches of glass fiber insulation wrapped around the pipe. Annular space ranges from zero inches minimum to one and one-half inches maximum, with a minimum five-eighths inch space filled with firestop sealant. A minimum one-quarter inch bead of LCI sealant is applied at the perimeter of the penetration. The firestop system complies with STI listing W-L-5121 and UL assemblies U300 or U400.
