A bell-mouth return air intake connects to a duct run with an acoustically lined interior back to the riser in the chase. The flared collar features a thirty-degree angle typically on two sides or four sides if space allows. A three-quarter-inch mesh screen covers the intake opening. The total intake area is required to equal a minimum of two return air duct areas.
