A surface-mounted ceiling diffuser with opposed-blade damper connects to a supply air duct formed from a minimum twenty-six gauge sheet metal spiral duct. A metal ninety-degree elbow directs airflow into the assembly and is secured to the structure above. The fire damper incorporates twenty-two gauge steel blades and enclosure, a damper actuator, and a one-inch by one-inch by sixteen-gauge mounting angle. A UL-approved fusible link rated at one hundred sixty-five degrees Fahrenheit standard is provided. The assembly is installed within a fire-rated ceiling framed with metal studs, maintaining an opening size between one-eighth inch and one and one-quarter inch larger than the overall damper size.
