A concrete slab depression runs parallel to a steel beam with a metal deck. The assembly features two continuous number 4 reinforcing bars at the step along with number 4 bars spaced at eighteen inches on center. The maximum slab depression is four inches with a twelve-inch dimension to the edge of the depression. A plate of twelve gauge with two-inch legs supports the deck transition where a two-inch minimum typical bearing is provided on the beam flange. Shear studs and welded wire reinforcement are integrated into the composite deck system.
