The cold water supply enters through a 2-inch water service line supported by wall brackets and equipped with typical water service unions. A 2-inch reduced pressure principle backflow preventer is installed with an air gap and a pipe leading to the floor drain, accompanied by a 3/4-inch drain valve and a hose end with a vacuum breaker. Upstream of the main distribution, a 2-inch water meter measures flow on the cold water line, followed by a shut-off valve whose handle is removed and hung adjacent per operational requirements. A 3/4-inch capped drain and a relief valve set at 100 psig with full-size discharge to the drain are tied into the circuit near the expansion tank. The expansion tank must be charged prior to connecting it to the system so that the charge matches the site water pressure.
