A 20-gauge sheet metal relief duct is equipped with a 1-inch acoustic or thermal lining. The interior of the duct is painted black for concealment behind the relief grille. A Ruskin CBD2 backdraft damper or equal is installed in the duct run, set to open at 0.01 inches water gauge static pressure. The vertical drop connects to a relief grille positioned within the ceiling plane, with duct heights ranging from a minimum of 5 feet to a maximum of 7 feet above the floor.
