An insulated duct penetrates a roof assembly supported by a concrete fill on a metal deck. A steel stud curb, framed with 16-gauge steel tracks at the top and bottom and 4x16-gauge steel studs, is anchored directly to the roof deck. A cantilever strip is installed at the base of the curb beneath the built-up roof membrane. A 22-gauge galvanized counter-flashing slopes outward at 15 degrees, secured with sheet metal screws and sealed with mastic at the top joint. The vertical duct is wrapped with 2-inch, 3-pound density rigid insulation featuring an 0.016-inch aluminum jacket and secured with a galvanized iron lock.
