A surface mounted ceiling diffuser with opposed blade damper is installed within a fire rated ceiling supported by metal studs. The assembly connects to a supply air duct consisting of a minimum 26 gauge sheet metal spiral duct and a metal ninety degree elbow secured to the structure above. A fire damper featuring a twenty-two gauge steel blade and enclosure is integrated above the diffuser, complete with a damper actuator, a one-inch by one-inch by sixteen gauge mounting angle, and a UL approved fusible link rated at 165 degrees Fahrenheit standard. An access panel must be provided for servicing the fire damper, which shall be UL555 and CSFM listed and conform to NFPA90-A and NFPA92-A.
