The upblast kitchen exhaust fan features a removable motor dome and a ventilated motor compartment isolated from the air stream. The fan base is hinged to a manufacturer-provided structural curb cap, which includes a drip lip and is secured to a prefabricated vented extended curb using heavy-duty stainless steel fasteners. A grease trough is attached to the fan base. Electrical service is provided via rigid conduit transitioning to flexible conduit with sufficient slack to allow the fan to hinge open for maintenance. The assembly is mounted to the roof structure, maintaining a minimum 18-inch clearance from the finished roof surface and a 40-inch minimum height for the fan unit. A fire-rated enclosure is required around the exhaust duct with a 6-inch minimum clearance.
