A return air grille is installed in a framed gypsum wallboard wall assembly with wood studs, positioned twelve inches above the finish floor. The return air duct connects directly to the grille either on the backside of the wall or routed tightly to one side directly within the stud cavity. Side and front views illustrate the spatial clearance and dimensional height requirements for both duct routing configurations.
