A wide flange beam connects to a hollow structural section beam using a pair of structural steel angles sized L4x3x3/8 with long legs horizontal. The connection utilizes three bolts in a vertical row through the angle leg and the wide flange beam web, spaced at three inches typically with one and a half inches edge distance. The angles are welded to the face of the hollow structural section beam with a quarter-inch fillet weld. A clearance gap of up to one-half inch is maintained between the wide flange beam end and the hollow structural section face.
