An insulated pipe is suspended from a hanger rod secured by a support nut and locking nut threaded into a heavy-duty clevis hanger. The insulated pipe rests inside an eighteen-inch-long fourteen-gauge protective shield that wraps around the exterior insulation. The metal shield is banded directly to the insulation to prevent crushing from the clevis hanger.
