An exhaust fan with an integrated bird screen is secured to a roof curb that maintains a minimum height of twelve inches above the roof assembly. Roofing materials extend continuously underneath the fan base by the roofing contractor. An exhaust duct connects below as required per the architectural and mechanical drawings, with airtight sealing applied as necessary. The fan unit is anchored directly to the curb using three-eighths inch lag bolts through the duct flange, which completely seals the top of the roof curb. A gravity backdraft damper is installed inside the curb directly beneath the fan assembly.
