The air duct smoke detector mounts to the side of the ductwork via a mounting plate and mounting nuts, utilizing a neoprene gasket for an airtight seal between the detector housing and the duct wall. An intake tube and an exhaust tube extend into the duct, with the intake tube secured to the opposite side wall. The assembly installs parallel to the long dimension of the duct. The electrical contractor furnishes and wires the smoke detector unit, while the mechanical contractor performs the mounting; an access door is required at the sampling tube location.
