A vertical pipe passes through a concrete floor slab supported by a metal deck. A galvanized pipe sleeve surrounds the pipe within the core opening, with firestopping material installed at rated floors on both sides. A one-quarter-inch gap around the perimeter is packed with a backer rod and filled with acoustical sealant typically on both sides. Fiberglass insulation fills the remaining annular space, and a galvanized floor plate covers the penetration with waterproof caulk applied for waterproof floors only.
